I've been getting this weird noise out my passengers side behind the dash on start ups. Goes on average under 10 seconds n goes away, sometimes longer. Dealer says its an e-box fan that needs to be changed, 450 of which my warranty company doesn't cover. How hard is this unit to get to?

Same thing happens to my car. Sounds like a whining noise coming from inside the dash but goes away within 10 seconds like you said. Definitely annoying. Interested in how to get the fixed as well!

Not hard to get to. Simply remove the micro cabin filter and its under it. Its getting to the fan which i think is on the bottom of the box. You have at least 3 modules in the ebox - I think one is the valvetronic, a DME and a power supply along with a wiring harness.

The fan itself I thought was closer to $150 - was the $400 for the entire box itself?

While you are at it, make sure the drain directly under the ebox is clear of any debris saving yourself thousand of dollars and tons of aggravation later down the road!

Here is a DIY:

Fuse box under hood has a fan inside. Is that the fan supposedly making noise? That noise is traveling to cabin? I would think e-box fan would continue to run; I wonder why the noise subsides after 10 seconds.
