E61 2004 music streaming options
Hi all
so I知 a bit tired of my temp streaming solution which is a BT speaker . I知 wondering if an upgrade from CCC to CIC will allow me to stream music from my iPhone. Added bonus are better and faster maps. I do have (working) BT module.
I also have the OEM iPod connector but it doesn稚 work. When I connect my 4s (only iPhone with old connector and Apple Music capability), it starts to search the music and then, after a few seconds, breaks off and the CD changer option is grayed out.
ipod connector would be the easiest and cheapest solution but I have no clue why it doesn稚 want to play music.
any thoughts on the iPod and CIC solution? Thx!

I've been told that to get music streaming over bluetooth to work that not only do you need CIC, but the ComboBox upgrade as well (sorry if I'm incorrect on that). This would not be a cheap upgrade. Too bad about the iPod option there. Do you have an aux-in port? I have one in my E61 and I got a bluetooth dongle that plugs into the USB port in my center console to power it, and then plugs into the aux-in port so all I have to do is use Aux-in in iDrive and then I can stream bluetooth music. Unfortunately there is no way to trigger Siri this way, because I sure would like to do that.

Also, in the idrive menu I have the AUX option, which I can select, but I don稚 see an AUX port. I looked in arm rest compartment, glove box, rear of center console: nothing. When I select the option in the menu, I shows up but nothing happens. This is all very confusing :-(

The iPod kit connects to the car, starts reading and then stops and cd changer is grayed out. I use the iPod nano 2nd gen with firmware 1.1.3, which according to the iPod kit manual should be ok

Have you seen this post? https://5series.net/forums/bluetooth...eaming-139872/ Many options are posed in the thread. Without an Aux jack, in order to use the Sure board you'd have to install it in or behind the glove box and tap into the speaker leads from the radio. It's a bit involved, but certainly a cheaper option than upgrading to CIC.
