It'll be fine. Your car has DTC.. or DSC.. ( I forgot what they label it) but it controls the power of the rear wheels. Let's say if you start slipping, the car stops the high revving and makes the car speed slower.

The main key you need is winter tires. I see that you are in Jersey. Get a set of 17 or 18 inch winter wheels. Check out tirerack.com and you can see a great selection of winter tires.

I just changed from my summer setup to winter yesterday. It definitely makes a world of difference. Especially if you have summer tires and driving in the winter is hazardous.

Last year I had All season Bridgestone RE960's on my old set of OEM 124's and they handled ok. I thought it was going to be a little better, so I decided to go with an All winter tire instead.

I like my car in snow, but it could be the AWD too. With a set of 225/50/17 Dunlops M3's you can stop very well in winter.

This will my first winter in my 545 also. I currently have all seasons on, but I don't plan on driving it in the snow. I'm lucky to be able to use my wife's 325xi when it snows. But, I do plan on getting a winter setup for next year.

You definitely will need a good set of snow tires.

Good Luck, and be Safe!

E60 handles the snow and ice very well!
But you really do need winter tires. I have studded ones, but that could be exaggeration for you.

Driving in snow is just a thing you have to learn. You have to understand that it is not dry asphalt and everything will go fine.
And even if the car has DSC, you just can't rely only on that and push the pedal to the metal.

Great situations to learn to control your right foot on a throttle are start offs on snowy uphills. If you push the pedal too hard, the DSC will let the wheels spin and the game is lost. Learn to be gentle on snow .

Greetings from Finland!

No need to worry I've been driving my 530i around for the last couple weeks in the snow and I have been very pleased. You will need winter tires though for sure. I had a 325xi last winter and that was ideal of course to have all wheel drive but with a good set of winters you have no need to worry, my car is lowered too by the way.

With DST, DSC, ABS, CBC etc and good winter tires the snow and ice isn't a problem.

Greetings from MN! I had purchased some Blizzak WS50's from Tirerack a few months ago for something like $60/tire and I figured for that price I don't care if they ride like crap, just as long as it was good in snow. It is mounted on my stock 16's. Anyways, I love them. Can't believe how well they track on the snow and the ride is nice and smooth. It is on-par with my 17" RFT Potenzas as far as road noise and comfort. I can't say enough good things about these tires. It probably helps that they are mounted on 16's. Also, one other thing, I kind of like the look of the aggressive threads on the tires.
