I'm saving up for the F01. Why go for the mini version of the 7?
But as said: To each his own.

Why go for the overweight lumbering version of the 5? If you are an elderly person, I understand.

Don't get me wrong, the E60 has been my dream car(within reason) for years. I think it just depends on an individuals personal preference as to body style. I've seen many E60's that I just, well, don't like. On the other other hand I've seen many that I've completely fallen in love with. The same goes for the F10. The 5 series in my opinion, attracts buyers with diverse styles. There's the family man, the businessman/gentleman, and well, for the 535/M5'ers, the guy that wants 335i/M3 performance but a different look and maybe just a bigger car. As you can see in the attached pics, the two models can differ very much based on the owners style. The thing i will say about the F10 though is that the idea of marketing the car to an older generation consumer totally killed it. Also, the reviews that talk about the inferior N55 engine, lack of road feel, and general overall fun to drive aspect, prompt me to stay faithful with the E60. As a BMW performance enthusiast, these negatives of the F10 just bring down its attractiveness even as far as looks. But since this is all about looks and not performance, I can say that the F10 definitely has potential. More so the TT V8 the new F10 550i has to offer.

Take a look at the very different styles of these 5 series. I like bothe the E60 and F10 with the sportier look but the others not so much. Someone else might feel the opposite...

I am an avid bmw fan and to be honest I cant tell the difference between an e90 and an f10 in the distance, BMW took adifferent path when differentiating the 5 series from the 3 series with the e60 so the e60 was distinguishable upscale, now the f10 looks like the next gen 3 series would look (same class, little bigger) so in my book is like downscaling the 5 series.
btw the e36 and e39 looked similar but the e39 looked fairly classier than the e36 so you could easily recognize one from another which is not the case with the new f10 which, dare I say it again, looks in the same class as the 3 series.

I pulled the trigger and decided to join the F10 club!
As a follow up from someone just moving from two E60's to an F10; I'M LOVING IT!
The car is more refined, but the improvements and thought put into the F10's is amazing; a great car to drive and look at. I was nervous leaving the comfort level of my beloved 2010 535I RWD Sport Pack car, but thrilled. Ironically, the E60 actually looked a bit dated sitting next to my new one; even my wife who's not a car person made note...
F10 - don't knock it until you try it!!

I agree now that you mention this. I can recall instances that I've been driving down the road and thought the F10 was a 3 or even a 7 from a distance only to be surprised that it was a 5 with a closer look. I think all three classes are looking a little too similar now...

Well, the power to weight ratio of the F10 535 is inferior to the E60 535 and to the E60 550. The F10 is a considerably heavier car than the E60. Staying the same on the horsepower of the 535 when going from E60 to F10 means a slower car. Me thinks BMW did that to put some distance between the 535 and the more expensive 550. In the E60s, the 535 could be cheaply tuned to be considerable faster and more powerful than the E60 550. That is no longer the case with the F10.

Lookswise, I prefer the F10 (M Sport package equipped of course).

I am a huge fan of the E39 -- my 2003 E39 540i with M Sport pack is still the favorite car I've ever owned. To me the F10 evokes the E39.

But I do love my E60 -- especially the handling. It is nimble and tenacious in the twisties and I am afraid that some of that fun will be lost in the bigger and porkier F10 and because of the F10's steering.

I think that the F10 is lame and almost looks like a toyota or a Lexus. Plus, overall, all of the new bimmers are starting to look alike. I can't even distinguish between the 3,5 or 7 anymore. Long live the E60 fellas, we got a classic beauty in our hands!
