Default 550i transmission acting funny

Hello! Anyone here still around?

I have a few issues with my '07 550i (-70k miles)
- upon startup, the gear letter flashes in the cluster. It happens a couple of times and you can hear something trying to "check" near the gear shifter

- the same issue happens when stopped at a light in D, the rpm fluctuates and the car feels like it's preparing to take off (even though it's already stopped)

- the car jerks in low gears and when caught off-guard (e.g. accelerating out of an exit ramp when it had just downshifted - feels like it got confused)

note: when I bought the car, the 1st>2nd gear shift felt a bit pronounced in slightly colder weather. I changed the oil and filter 1 year (10k miles) ago with ZF parts (the old oil was fine and didnt have any shavings). It got a little better then these issues started happening. There are no codes showing up.

What could it be?

Check your crankshaft sensor to see if the connector is damaged. Have you ran it for codes? If not I would start there

no codes came up last time, clean as a whistle.
tonight i started the car and the gear indicator in cluster was madly flashing and the car had a slightly rough idle (almost felt like a.misfire) then it deteriorated, followed by an EBC error then a transmission fault error. Wtf? Could it be the IVM again? Similar stuff happened last year and I swapped.the IVM with a used unit (which solved them issues until now).

How old is the battery? What are you using to check for codes?

The battery is no more than 2 years old and the indy mechanic uses a code reader (i dont know the name) there were 2 codes that showed up recently as absent 002dca and 002ded Could this be IVM related?

thank you, I googled those but not sure what to do with that info?

Another 2 observations:
- the car hesitates/jerks in R (often)
- the car behaves more predictably in DS (i.e. less jerky)

I have managed to solve my issue by replacing the IVM and all coils (one was causing a misfire).

I fixed my transmission the same way. Dealer wanted a huge sum, fix myself in the driveway. I did not rebuild the valve body, just seals and solenoids.
