Yeah I agree with you. Its far too expensive. I actually thought it would cost something like SGD 418 - 428K. There is no exclusivity to owning one. I'd rather stick with my 545 citing the following reasons.
Are there CS personnel specially trained to handle these cars? Oh yeah, they will point you to my good friends Mr Brown and Mr Lim. You wouldn't want to leave your rides with these guys. Will you be given a loaner of the same type should you send your ride in for warranty issues? Believe me there will be plenty visits of this kind.
What about proper training? Driving a beast like that requires proper training by professionals. Will PML provide this - in Germany? Cost of this is small change compared to what they make from the sale of the M5.
Why part with so much money when there are so many other E60s that are dressed up like one? How different will you be from a 530 that is dressed up with the M-tech kit? Speed? Speed along the PIE and get fined? Travel up North and be at the mercy of the police and lane changing trucks? Proposal for a race track in Singapore? Its all just speculation, isn't it?

On the bright side, I have also heard from quite a few people that HUD may be introduced as an option for future buys; doesn't have to be an M, but any car in the range.

M5 will be a nice poser car, wolf in sheep clothing. Tracking in Sepang would be nice going with the Evos monster!

M6.. the answer is M6 my friend. Not many on the road. But at half a million SGD, Porsche starts to look nicer!
Darn PML keeping stiff price of the 6 even though the COE is loose change nowadays.

BTW test drove 630i cab the other day, felt the cabin is quieter (impression from short drive though) than my e60. The new 3 liter engine didn't give me the "Wow" effect coming from my current ride. Waiting to test drive the 645i which should be better for power on pick up.

I was toying around with the idea of an M6 sometime next year, but the M5's pricing has just put me off - big time. You're right; a Porsche might sound more attractive now, but you're looking at a 2 seater with 3700cc for roughly the same amount. May as well go for the Nissan 350Z in this case.

Will look into the situation again next year.

M5 should be priced in region of 450k, not 470k. In fact the OMV is the same as M3 CSL. PML really marked up this beast on the high side. If I'm not wrong new owners of the beast can request a trip up to Nurburgring for training.

My customer wasn't the one who bought it. It was some rich Hong Kong guy who cut the cheque to PML from what I heard. If I heard correctly he bought it at $470k

Did push the button on the final run before returning to showroom. Yes, it is more torquey and all.
I might be partial due to the time spent on the 630i, I don't find the new 3 litre engine smooth when pushed as matter of fact it felt strained at redline. There was a turbo mitsu airtrek sprinting with me but i left him behind after 60kph onwards.
Checked the century sprint spec number and found it to be close to the e60 530i old engine at around 7 secs, guess the cab is heavier, so i was right during the test drive that i didn't feel better acceleration than my current ride. So pass!
