Hey Zag,
Have not been logging in for a while, apologise!
Do not know how to verify the DD. Where are the actuators located?? It would be nice if my ride is same as yours.....but I do not think so.
Cheers!

BMWOrld,
Aren't yrs the first batch? don't you experience the rather less roll during fast cornering?
Here is what the BMW mechanic showed me... Hope it helps!

Front
Those with Dynamic Drive, the shaft (black in color in the pic) goes thru bearing while those without it is an U shape bearing mount.

Rear
Look under the carriage and the DD actuator shaft is mounted on the axle. Motor at center and shaft (tainted yellow paint smudge) as shown.

chaps i got a letter from agent saying

" the seat occupancy detector in vehicle may occasionally b unnable to reliably detect whether the front-passenger seat is occupied when the vehicle is in motion. If the seat occupancy detector erroneously detects the front-passenger seat as being unoccupied, neither the fron-passenger front airbag not the fron-passenger side sirbag will be activated in an accident of sufficient force to warrant activation. The belt tensioner would not activated under these preconditions either.....To ensure that your vehicle is in perfect condition, we would therefore like to modify the coding data for the seat occupancy detector."

i m now debating if i shud send my car in for coding...i dun want zag's software!!!

Yeah I just gots this letter as well. Sounds like it could be a sensor replacement and not just a software upgrade?

I was only going to go in for a s/w update when the mp3 feature became available.
But now, it's more a safety thing rite...

My car is working great at the moment, only problem is that irritating CD player always going back to the first disc issue.

i didn't get any letter! when did you guys get it?

Hahaha!.. Zag's software. that's cute!
This reminds me.. gotta call Chris Brown, PML CSA manager.. he didn't get back to me on the i-drive nuisance yet.

eggz, beside the new software and idrive nuisance and all.. i felt the after upgrading and oil change.. the gear shift is more prompt than before. Not sure though if it is the oil change or software.

I am having a problem with the sensor...
When somebody is sitting in the passenger seat and leaves the car, but you don't shut the engine off, the seat is still declared occupied and you'll get the seatbelt warning...
So there are those problems with the sensor, allthough the are not big, since they can solve the problem. Stop by at your local dealer to have it fixed...

totoseow, thanks for sharing the recall information. DO you know whether the problem affects the 530 only? Why did they call you and not me? Is it confined to certain production batches?

I have that RECALL letter too. And I too dun want CIP 12.1. Looks and sounds sh**ty. Will definitely make music for them if re-coding some data to fix the seat sensor means upgrading the software.
