E60 OBD II PORT EMISSIONS FAIL
TheDarkKnight, did you ever fix this? I have the same problem. I just picked up a 2004 530i. I'm in California. Went to 2 different Smog places, a Snapon, and 2 Actron OBD readers couldn't read it. Went to a specialized BMW mechanic and his Autologic reader could read it. I desperately need this fixed. Can you please let me know what you did before I end up spending thousands?

My Ride: 2004 BMW 545i 6-Speed Black on Black with Peanut Butter Insides. Sitting on Staggered 20's 9.5 front and 10.5 rear. Rolled fenders and Full Sports Package. ACS Decklid and Roof Spoiler. Tinted 5% everywhere. Changing Accent Parts to Carbon Fiber and
Quick Update. The car is finally fixed inspected and all. I took a portable OBD II reader and let them use it to fix the car. They thought it was the DME computer so I replaced it. That didn't work so they tried something else. It turned out to be the Airbag ECU Module. The part number was 65-77-6-975-686. They ate the cost of the unnecessary DME module and just charged me for the airbag module, programming and labor. All and all Stealership rates $3200 for their mistake the took off the DME which was $1500. Final total of $1735.... So I hope this helps someone else out. My pain your gain. Enjoy
