I have a MY2005 car and I am trying to fit MULF2-HI module to it. The issue I am facing is that no matter what I try, I get MOSTSYS ring break and No communication possible with: Telephone unit faults.
Hardware:
the red light from the CCC comes all the way to the MULF unit and it comes out of it, so MULF powers on and optical ring seems to be complete (note that my car was only pre-wired for CDC, but that shouldn't change anything and in fact simplify the loop to the minimum).
If I bypass MULF with a loop, it would still give the same errors.
CCC has the new style menu on it.
I also made sure that my SGM module is brown, which means that it should support the aforementioned module.
I do have a cheap junkyard CDC laying around which also refuses to communicate (it powers on), but when I was fixing the jammed mechanism, I accidentally broke one of the inner optic connectors and I glued it back on, so I do not draw any conclusions from that just yet.
Software:
I added $6FL and $644 to the VO/FA and changed production date to LCI for a good measure (tried various dates ranging from 2007/03 to 2009/09), default coded the CAPPL, CGATE and CHOST units. Bluetooth and AUX selections appear, but they obviously do not work.
Now regarding the MULF module itself, I know that it is practically impossible to code it through KDCAN cable if the car is as old as mine, but it shouldn't really matter as these modules aren't VIN locked and at worst some features would be not active.
To rule out old software on SGM, I updated both SGMS and SGMZ modules via WinKFP using v74 SP-Datens, default coded in NCS but to no avail.
I had read a lot of forums in various languages and most people encountered issues in making one or other feature work, but anything like this where module isn't detected at all. Help would be appreciated!
Thank you for the reply, but did you read what I've listed? It is getting power and it is both receiving and sending out the optical signal back towards CCC.
Once I have more time, I will try taking out the CCC and seeing if there is anything wrong with the connection there. Otherwise will try to connect MULF directly to CCC with spare optical cables to rule out any broken optics under the dashboard.
Sorry for reviving. If anyone was wondering, it was a broken optic cable under the dashboard. When I disconnected the main CCC connector, I noticed that one of the cable's core was dark no matter how much light it was getting from the other end. I bypassed that with another cable for testing and MULF works!
