Question E60 LCI Headlightglass broken.

Hi guys,

I am new here and I am already a huge fan of this big community. Really like the way people discuss their topics.

I am a owner of a 525I 07-2007 would like to know something.
Recently, my dad hit something and created a hole on the glass cover of the headlight. (see image below. I am currently doing some research to see if I can try to fix this. I have seen people talk about replacing the glass. But this is a very tidious and difficult process.
I found someone selling his old headlight housing (without the modules). I would like to know if there is someone with experience transferring the light modules to a different headlight case. And is it doable?

If it's the same type of headlight there's nothing to it. You just unplug the modules and plug it in the replacement.

Yeah so I asked for a image to see if the model is the same. Sadly, it id not. The one he has is a 1EL 009 450-01. Mine is the 1ZS 009 451-01. :'(

I've removed and replaced headlamp lenses on other vehicles but have not done my LCI E60 yet. But I can tell it is more involved than other headlamps. There are different methods. Here are two:

Sorry for the late response, But thanks a lot for the links @hoser . I think I'll try it myself hoping not to demolish these headlights. The last thing I still don't understand is if these led lights should be transferred as well. I have seen a couple of vendors selling these lenses with and without LED markers. (See image with LED cable and without LED cable)

Can I take the old one out and stick it to the new one or doe I have to order the lens with the cable thingy.

Thanks a lot and have a happy new year!
