Hi,

I tried to search and allready revied few good topics about HUD but I didn't found any information about is it possible to get same view to normal HUD as in M5 (tacho meter and gear information)?

It's quite nice invention and best with navigation but tachometer missing

Model is 535d.....

This is a good question, but I'm afraid it will remain without answer.

Edit: HUD users, can the HUD display the secret men?? I heard yes... ? If yes, you can have rpm on the glass.

I don't think this is possible. As far as I understand, on M5 to get RPM displayed on HUD, you need to get into the M mode. Otherwise HUD looks standard. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Jep ... Factory topspeed same with one diesel powered little brother... It just take bit longer... (don't take too serious ).

But I have tried to find ansver for this RPM HUD problem but withuot success... Maybe have to invest real 5... M5...

Common sense still says that this shouldn't be impossible and think (at least thought) that HUD is just same in M5 than in other 5serie models (software differs).

I pondered on this very question with my HUD actually.........would be cool to see revs in the Diesel as its so quiet and torquey, the revs creep up on you in no time in Manual mode.......

I also would be very interested in this, not sure why as the V8 definatley lets you know when you are high in the revs, but interested none the less

So this is definitively a software enabled issue as the HUD can display anything that is fed to it...

A couple of immediate issues come up:
1) If it is indeed SW - then BMW are the only folks that can do this/enable it and thus I think the chances of this happening on a non M5 vehicle are slim. Keep in mind that the SW isn't just something that BMW controls but is vehicle specific. So your cars setup is reflected in their computers and this can't be secretly turned on without BMW knowing....
2) I don't think that the non M5 Huds support color. At least, I've only seen monochrome orange on all non m5 HUDs. The M5 RPM/Tacho on the head has green, red and orange colors which suggests that there may be different hardware at play here as well...

Would be great to know if it has or can be done - BRUCE - weigh in on this one......
