My Ride: BMW E60 530i
BMW don't give a s**t about European or Australian styling preferences. They are only interestd in the US market and the high growth BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China) where they sell (or will in future sell) most of their cars.
This is the true reason for the conservative styling of the F10, to lure in emerging markets that on the whole don't have such mature styling preferences.
Personally, I like the F10 more every day, but what I really look forward to is a car packed with the latest electronics and handling charectristic.

The interesting thing is, the US and/or other countries don't get 5 Series in a long-wheel base apart from China. What I'm trying to get at is that BMW does care about all countries to an extent because all models are exported with different setup to satisfy what the specific countries want (I know this because I've represented BMW previously, yes I am a lawyer). If what you said is correct, I don't think BMW designed the E60 based on what US wants because the E39 was the best-selling 5 Series before the E60 came along.
I think the majority of members agree that E60 made a bigger impression (in terms of design language) compared to the F10 - it was definitely modern and in a way "ahead" of its design back in 2003.

I agree... do you think the recent cars from BMW have changed because the media gave so much shit about Bangle's designs - E65 and ESPECIALLY E60 - back in early 2000?
I just hope the 2015 & 2016 - the revolution era - will make the design more fascinating... because the F10 does not give that "WOW" factor... to me anyway...

A long time. People that bought 80k 550i's in 2010 did not buy a car to get outdated in less then 4 years. I still think the E39 looks decent and that came out in 1997 so hopefully same with the E60.

My Ride: 2008 535i
Options: Sports Pkg/ Premium Pkg/ Navigation/ USB(iPod)
Mods: Tint (lolololol) any ideas?
I LOVE THIS CAR!!!
(WAAAAAYYYYY better than my previous MB E350, but quite a bit more expensive :( )
I think color has a lot to do with it as well....i mean, a white 2005 545i looks pretty damn nice and new-er when clean, but a space grey 545i looks pretty outdated in my opinion. I have seen one at school that just look BAD.
