My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
The Aston Martins, Lambo's and Ferrari's are timeless. Sorry to say the E60 will appear dated as soon as the F10 is on the road. I got the 1997 E39 and the 2004 E60, both new bodystyles. I am getting the 2011 F10, also a new bodystyle so I may be predisposed to have the opinion that I do.

To my mind any car will always look sharp if it's clean no matter what the style.(some exceptions)
That said, how it will stand the (style)test of time will be affected by its competitors.
The E60 was very advanced in style and as such was the car to copy. If you look at a Camry, it looks like a cheapened 5er. There are other copies, that also sell well.
Thus we are literally up to our ears in BMW clones. With so many out there it really loses its exclusivity.
BUT after all is said BMW is still miles ahead in style/quality,so it will weather well.

My Ride: 550i 2009 Mod. with tints all around. Got Splitter and Spoiler coming. May do an exhaust.
Need to ask? Were there more E60s or the E39s? Just Curious. I believe the E60 will get it in the long run. It is a HEAD TURNER. Course anything shiny and reflecting / refracting light in the sun with all those sexy body curves on the E60 definately helps make our 60s' look like jewels; to me anyway. Although I am concerned about the ON Board Computer and what will be required to do and spend if it does Blow? When the new 60 came out in '04; were there issues with the ON Board Computer? Great stuff here. Dan

E60 will look good for a long time, it's a hot car! IMO the E60 looks better then 99% of all other cars on the road to date! It is a piece of art

I would also tend to agree, but my only dislike with the e36 are the side skirts....which I think are terrible. They are either ugly looking plastic or too over the top.

Well regardless, the e60 has been named the most controversial BMW ever to be built....whether that puts a smile to your face or makes you think twice about the e60, the fact of the matter is, in 50 years people will remember the most controversial/out of the box design rather than the run of the mil design the F10 appears to fulfill?.I personally think the e60 is/was a gateway for BMW?s success.

I just hope the 2015 & 2016 - the revolution era - will make the design more fascinating... because the F10 does not give that "WOW" factor... to me anyway...

BMW don't give a s**t about European or Australian styling preferences. They are only interestd in the US market and the high growth BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China) where they sell (or will in future sell) most of their cars.
This is the true reason for the conservative styling of the F10, to lure in emerging markets that on the whole don't have such mature styling preferences.
Personally, I like the F10 more every day, but what I really look forward to is a car packed with the latest electronics and handling charectristic.
