E60 - How long will it stand the test of time
#11
It is not that the E60 is looking old, so much as 'feeling old'.
The handling, performance, comfort, chassis and electronic factors have advanced a lot since 2004 and I think the E60 now feels, rides and drives like a 2004 designed car.
Also, once the F10 is common-place on the roads the E60 will look dated, it does not have the built-to-last quality of the E39 (which is still around and looking magnificent). The E60 was definately built to a price rather than quality point. I personally think it will fade fast.

I think the E60's will look great for years to come. In fact the new F10's almost look like they would've came between the E39 and E60's. Been more then a few cars that have came out in the last few years that have taking some design cues from the E60's.

I agree 100%. And as to the F10, I can't stand it compared to the Sport 550i, especially the front stance and also the extra pronounced bends in the hood and body work. Not my taste, for sure. I'm glad I DIDN'T wait.

My Ride: 2004 BMW 530i - no mods. Pretty basic really. I mean it has tires, windows, and a sweet look, what more could a man want? Honestly, I'd like to improve the sound system mildly, and possibly find a worthy engine mod that would increase my BHP by 100 without giving an arm and a leg for. I don't think it's out there, so I'll stay stock and love driving my 530i.
Don't care what anyone thinks, but I love the way the E60 looks. I also really like the way the E39 looks. I believe as long as I own the car I will always love it on so many levels. Just when you think you're getting bored of it go out and drive something substandard. For me I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee that I drive on the weekends and when it's snowing. When Monday comes I love the plush feeling, the heated seats and steering wheel. Then on top of all that the drive quality is superb. So as how will it stand the test of time, for me it's doing just fine. I also drive a 2004 E60....
