Pre LCI E60's definitely look dated right now....but I think that is my bias opinion because I have seen so many modded E60's...for some reasons pre-LCI E60 with shadow trim look way LESS dated than their chrome trimmed brethren
I think a LCI 550i with M-Tech will still look very nice in 4 years...

Does everyone think the pre-LCI models look dated because of the tail lights? That's pretty much the only feature you can really notice right away, all other changes are rather subtle. To be honest, I think the F10 looks horribly plain (a beefed up E90 clone with Infiniti G35 sedan look-a-like tail lights). That being said, I think our E60s will still look good through the next gen. Heck, I'd choose an E46 M3 over an E92 335i or even an E92 M3 in a heartbeat. To me the only thing the E92 has is power and "oooh new M3" factor. I'm not a big fan of where BMW is heading, every car is becoming less driver oriented.

If by "dated" you all mean the car begins to look a few years old, well, uh.... it is! If you mean it starts to look "unattractive" or not sporty or.... well, I think the E60 will in some ways always attractive and even aggressively sporty (for a sedan) if it is LCI and has the sport package. Just my thoughts, but "old" doesn't mean bad.... just old.

I have the pre LCI 525i non sport and to be honest I cannot tell there is major difference between all of the models except for the M5 body, wheels packages and LCI tails.
Apart from that except for the color I cannot tell much difference if anything including the power difference between the 530i and 525i so I saved my cash for other things.
Unless you are a die hard enthusiast and aware of the subtleties most people will not pick up on the different packages for the most part.
I was reading a magazine article about the new F10 and they commented that its looks are more likely to get dated early on were as the E60 got better with age.
I have to admit I was one of those guys in 2004 that thought the E60 was an ugly duckling and then some time in 2008 it turned into an elegant swan.

i think pre-LCI stock look dated too, but probably because we look at so many moded e60's here. Also, were i live (CA) a lot of nice cars. Those two factors made my eyes used to seeing nice e60's, m5's everyday
but overall, e6o styling will probably look modern for the next 4-5 years. Same as e39 did. I still see LCI e39's with m-kit and they look great.

There is no doubt in my mind the e60 will still look in at least 5 if not 10 more years. My favorite BMW body style is the e36 M3...and that is almost a 20 year old car.
