My passenger side headlights has a pinkish hue which I have read is a sign its burning out. Couple of questions since seems the dealer charges an arm and a leg. How difficult is it to replace and can you purchase the bulbs at local auto stores? I do have the xenon projector lights. its 2008 528XI

Does your 528 have Xenon lights (HID)?

If no Xenon, then your low beams should be an H7 bulb and can be purchased at any local autoparts store. If you do have Xenon lights then it should be HID D2s bulb which you're probably better off getting on ebay, don't get the cheap china ones, either OEM or high quality ones from reputable sellers.

Install is quite simple...this should give you an idea...AE replacement.

+1, it's an absolute piece of cake to replace these headlights. My dealer wanted 500+ for both (usually replace in pairs to the light "matches") and I got a steal of a deal on amazon.com. I think it was just under $100 for a two pack of D1-S Xenons. The price was higher last I checked though

Mine are D2S. They cost about $100 each at Bavarian Autosport. Part number 07 11 9 904 790. Don't know what the difference is between D1S and D2S.

Anyone that tell you otherwise doesn't have proof besides they're broke from buying the OE lightbulb. I have many cars and I've used these for years on end and not 1 complaint.

I'm skeptical about attempting to remove the headlight without damaging the bumper and I do not have "baby" hands where I can just reach in and replace without removing the light. I guess none of the DIY photo explainations or the one video gave me the confidence that I wouldnt run into issues.

My servicing BMW dealer quoted me $870 to replace both lights (recommended).

Independant BMW specialist service center quoted $750 for both (bulbs $239.29 ea).

I then called another independant Auto Europe which specializes in sales/ service for high end vehicles, Lotus, BMW, Audi, Ferrari, etc. Typically they do not charge if lights purchased from them but since the 5-series is a bit more difficult there is a minimal labor charge. So about $250 for both lights and installation. Seems extremely reasonable to me and avoids bending over for the BMW Dealer serivce

Hey AchtungE60 are these lights for real? $9. If they are legit that is a phenomenal price and for the price of a twelver of Blue Moon I can replace my D2S' later on myself.

Ace333, just get these bulbs and learn how to replace them yourself. I did that about 7 years ago on my old X5 and I found out it was not that difficult at all. There are many people that have posted with steps on how to replace your bulbs and surely they have pictures.

Yea bro. I have these in my E46 for the past couple years, I think 3 years actually. I paid about $19 back then but i saved the seller bcs same lights as my E60! Never know if you'll need a set of lights. Osram Sylvania are far over-rated and FAR over-priced.

Nice. I guess Im buying my backup set in the next couple of days. The Osram's are over-rated, if you can find an actual pair since there are a tons of knock offs on eBay and Amazon. Thanks for the info.
