I recently start eyeing the E60.
I have only one complaint... The steering is much too light, especially compared to what I've come to expect from BMW. Accurate, direct, but too darn light. Feel is fine too, I just prefer a bit more effort required to turn the wheel.
The 08 535i Sport has a medium light steering effort that could have been copied and pasted directly from my old Accord V6.
I understand cars with active steering have even lighter steering wheels than the servotronic and hydraulic models... It has been stated that steering effort varied amongst the years , as well.
Which models and or years have the heaviest steering?

Recently in a 535i that has the Sport Auto Trans with the sport button... The tranny transforms instantly when the button is pushed. However, the steering stays the same, even though all literature I've seen suggests it should tighten. Weird.
Anyway, would you say it gets as heavy as a E39, E46, or e90? You have active steering?

SB makes steering a bit tight , especially on turns, but it will never be as heavy as E39 or E46, forget about it
The E60 steering is like "let start this online game" where in SB mode
it's like "well this online game requires some attention"
This why i keep E39, the UDM

I have active steering, errors from time to time but the steering does get heavy when I get up to speed. It works and nothing to complain about driving wise except for the occasional error from the active steering. Car is 550

550 models with the V8 and no active steering would be the E60 ones with the heaviest steering. Any heavier, and women would not be able to drive the car.
But you basically do not want Active Steering. It is heavy at all times.

You just contradicted yourself from the first to the third sentence.
Active steering is LIGHT at all times.
