E60 DSC failure, but that's all
Hey guys,
Just have a quick question for you all before I take my machine into the SA.
I've got a MY2006 530iA that's having a DSC failure problem, telling me to "Drive Moderately". I got the error for the first time this morning, when it was 27 degrees F outside.
Not related most likely, but when I was clearing the car from all the frost that had accumulated this morning, the engine cut out and I had to start it up again. Does that sound related to my DSC? The DSC failed about 7 minutes into my trip, when I was pulling around a turn. The first time I restarted the car, the error was still there, but after the second restart, the error went away.
Reading around, I read that it could possibly be my steering fluid or my brake fluid being low, but does that sound like it would be a problem when it is really cold outside? Not sure if it would be worth taking to my SA for a simple brake fluid top off.
Thanks for the help

Mine did that. Did you notice that when the DSC message comes on while moving, you happened to be turning the steering wheel? Mine turned out to be the steering angle sensor or SZL. It's inside the steering column. Others with this problem also report that when using the turn signal, it doe not turn off by itself. Basically, it doesn't know what position the steering wheel is at. Mine god fixed under warranty. Otherwise, it's about a $500 part + labor.
Other than that, check fluids first.

Alright,
Though, I saw that BMW had a recall out for August 2005 BMW's up to some 2006 date, mine is a March 2005. Do you think it will still be the SZL sensor?
When I was turning the wheel, I felt a small knock and then the error popped up. It was at a relatively slow speed aswell.
Thanks
