Ive just bought my 530d about a month ago, was wondering if anyone else can smell a diesel type burning smell coming from exhaust? notice it when looking in boot when car is ticking over. Is this normal?? Thanks in advance

mine stinks fantastically, nothing like the old fashioned diesel fumes from trucks and tractors.....

maybe it has some secret additive in a little tank that is only filled when at the dealer for service. It's also hidden in the bill but not in the final amount......

You didn't just spill a bit of fuel did you? That also smells for a long time (also when you stepped into a mixture of diesel and water with your leather business shoes..... )

Mine stinks, my wife's X5 stinks. I was amazed how much. Hint - don't look in the boot with the engine ticking over It's not overpowering, and to be honest it doesn't smell much worse than petrol cars I used to own. Is it a new 530d or used?

So, you're standing by the exhaust with the engine running and you smell diesel?
What could it be.........
