No liquids allowed in my car, unless it has a screw top.

Awful design. I never use them...except when I am fully stopped and not planning on driving, just sitting in the car enjoying a beverage.
Always put bottled water laying on passenger seat, or wedge it between seat corner and floor.

You can always get a cheaper car with better cup holders
I know they suck but remember, bmw is pretty new to that technology. They just started putting those on their cars in early 90's where US made cars probably had them as early as 70's. I've had few German automobiles and noticed one thing, half of them weren't even equipped with one and the other half needed aftermarket one anyway because the one that came with the car sucked.

What?!?!?! You're describing cupholders as "technology", and suggesting that 18 years isn't enough time for BMW to be able to create something as simple as a functional cupholder

I hate the cup holders in the e60.
I put cans in there and most of the time when the can becomes half full it starts to move about and some time almost fly out.
my Honda stepwgn cup holders is 1000 time better.
they can design a good car but cant design cup holder.
Japanese are the best at cup holders

+2 and no eating in my car too!
However, if they're going to have cupholders at all, shouldn't they do at least a half decent job of it? A better designed cupholder has to be possible for those people who use them.
Ok, that's my vent for today. lol
