I was looking at the new F10 photos and noticed that BMW has re-introduced interior redundant knobs and buttons that the iDrive interface handles. I know that some like the traditional access to various functions, but I thought that an improved iDrive system would be sufficient. I prefer the simple interior of the E60; the new design displays that bother me are the climate & entertainment controls, head-light controls, side air vents placement, and ash tray placement. The steering buttons seem to be a bit cluttered too.

Any thoughts on this as well? The first pic is an E60 M5 (couldn't quickly find a full photo of an early model E60 interior), but the early E60 models are very similar - minus the Mness.

I agree, for the most part. I also think the idrive knob seems too far forward compared to the e60. It seems like it wont be very comfortable to reach all the way up there while driving.

I will withhold my comments until I actually sit in an f10 myself, as looks and feel are two different things...and I'm more concerned on how it feels when I am driving it....

I would say more of the new 7 series/f01 rather than the 3 series. It's been stated the f10 cabin was inspired by the f01 cabin.....

In all fairness, the E60 interior is a pre-LCI and is missing the six/eight memory buttons. A fairer comparison would be an LCI interior and the F10...

I personally like more buttons. The E60 looks and feels austere in that department.

I agree with Gene, it is MUCH more of the F01 influence, and I have to say having driven the F01 it is a wonderful mix of controls through the Idrive and in buttons on the dash and console! So I am actually looking forward to the F10!

I have no idea at which point f10 dash is similar to e90? F01 influence is so obvious that I even think that maybe too similar? The think I am missing in e60 is ability to change Windshield/face/foot ventilation without going into Idrive options. It should be the way it is in e90s. Sometimes I'd rather press the button on the dash than go into a smeway complex menu.
