I am on my second E60, its a 530 D m sport. Yesterday some donkey in an Audi something estate decided that he would undertake me. He ran out of space and then tried to pull out on me. The problem was I had looked ahead and was almost past him. He then did the slamming the on his brakes thing in front of me nearly causing an accident with other cars around him. I had pulled back as again I could see what was happening. What gets me is that the BMW seems to bring out the worse in other drivers. I dont want or need to race. I have nothing to prove. I retired from the police service about 18 months ago and was an Advanced class one driver, pursuit trained etc etc. This is the first car I have had that seems to draw idiots to it. Does anyone have a similar experience?

The Audi pulled into a garage minutes after, where I was going to fill up with fuel. I enquired with the driver who out of his car why he had behaved in that manner. His response was that he had taught me a lesson by cutting me up and that this was because I had not braked to a halt when he wanted to pull into the side of my car.

Anyway he left, wheels spinning. I filled up my car. An elderly man came over to me and said. "I was the one he nearly went into the back of". He then added that what I had said to the driver was right. He siad "the trouble is that your car looks stunning and all he was driving was an expensive VW". We both had a good laugh and went our separate ways.

I can only speak for UK roads but here things seem almost lawless. What is the experience of drivers elsewhere?

..."driving.... an expensive VW".
Jaguars are (were?) expensive Fords, Mercs were expensive Chryslers & of course Ferraris are expensive FIATs.

The list goes on...

Jealousy. Jealous resentment against a rival, a person enjoying success or advantage, etc., or against another's success or advantage itself.

These are the comments that make BMW owners sound like arrogant a-holes.

Benzs were never expensive Chryslers, there was a lot of talk about how the ailing Chrysler brand would benefit from M-B's engineering capabilities. Not the other way around.

Fiat doesn't make any of the Ferrari cars and/or parts. As of 2007, the Fiat Group owns 85% of Ferrari, Mubadala 5%, and Enzo's son Piero 10%. But Fiat doesn't interfere in any way to the Ferrari production or design, or even management. That's why saying that a Ferrari is just a rebadged Fiat is totally wrong and not true ! Ferrari has a plant in Maranello, where it produces all the parts for the production models, and also assembles the cars.

heh I get challenged all the time however I usually dont take the bait and they get the point. dont worry about it. The other guy ends up feeling stupid by wasting his gas, and then ending up right next to me anyways at the next stop light .

I disagree e60 drivers are not hated that much, however its the drivers in 3 series models that need a lesson in life, most 3 series drivers drive like complete idiots, this then rubs of on the 5 series drivers.
