Hi Everyone,

I have a quick technical question regarding the E60.

My front and rear brake pads were changed recently but the miles still show 25k for the front and 33k for the rears?

What do you think happened here? why are the miles still the same as before?

Regards,
Adeel

Apparently due to uneven wear, i complained about loud brake noise....

probably because a dealer has reset them rather then replace the pads.. common trick Im told. If pads need to be replaced, then it needs to be replaced...I would never rely on the idrive alone, as your asking for trouble (Not saying you would)...

Adeel - If they have already been replaced it looks like either the warning wasnt reset or it maybe Idrive needs a while to readjust the figure..

Do a search for resetting the values and see if that cures the problem...

spot on mate

I thought so as well, the other day when i got the car back and checked the idrive, but upon inspection, i could tell by looking there are brand new pads in there.

Just got hold of the reset instructions, but it will just say "OK", they can't be reset i think because i would imagine the wear on the sensors calculate this.

Do you think the dealer has actually replaced the pads but not the sensors? hence the same values as before? now the pads will need to wear out until the previous pads before the values start to drop?????????? could this be right???????

Try using the instructions here https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=17756

once its reset it will count down, but it should beep / gong once the sensor is activated as its completing a circuit that will activate an alarm.. I would think the idrive would adjust over time rather then just count down but I've not not had my car long enough to confirm, hopefully someone will be able to confirm..

Just keep an eye on it and the wear and see if they tally roughly..
