Took my E60 in for some warranty service and drove off in a 2007 330xi Sport/Steptronic/Comfort Access loaner. The Comfort Access was nice, as was the seating and control layout. Immediately missed some of the power features on the E60--no powered steering wheel adjustment or trunk release. First impression on the road was how loud the tires were--Bridgestone Turanza Run Flats. The ride was comfortable enough, but it did not feel as stable in corners--no Active Roll Stabilization. First time I turned a 90-degree corner, I missed the Active Steering. I am used to just flicking the steering wheel around corners, but this required some real turning. Enjoyed the Steptronic, especially Sport Mode. No complaints. Power from the I-6 was noticably less--definitely lacked the grunt of the 4.4L. All in all, it was a nice car, but no match for the E60 in my view. Was glad to be back in my own car at the end of the day.
Before leaving the dealer, sat in the 2007 M5 with 6-speed manual. Wow! The interior materials are fantastic. Soft leather seating. Suede headliner. All leather door and dash finishes. Very luxurious. Definitely an E60 appreciation day.
