E60 Active Steering issue
#1
Greetings all.
I know this has been covered partially in another thread . But if anyone has information on what models and yrs were covered in the SZL recall and how long the dealers were obligated to correct them, please post it.
I have a 2006 Jap Spec E60 that I imported 2.5 yrs ago. It currently has only 12000 miles and for the last 10k miles, the active steering light has been intermitent. It's my weekender and has not been driven so I am very upset that I should have to pay the equivalent of US1000+ for parts and labour for a problem that was apparent in so many of these models.
Any assistance would be really really appreciated.
Thanks

Was it a recall or just a bulletin?

Thanks a million for the responses.
No there are no crunching noises. The steering is improperly aligned at times in that straight ahead may be like 5 past 1.
I am not sure if it was a recall or a bulletin. I want to get as much information as possible so I can determine what to do.
The car is Jap Spec, but I imported it to Jamaica and my correspondence has been with BMW consumer affair in Germany I believe.
I have been getting a bit of a run around so I just want to be able to say that I know that this is a ongoing proplem, that it was dealt with under warrantee in other cases, and I would like mine treated in the same way. If not then I will persue consumer affairs and my lawyer as options.
Took it to the dealer and the computer said it was the SZL issue.
Yeehaa please tell me a bit about your recall? Where are you located and what was said and done? I would really appreciate it.
Thank You all again.
