Default E60 550i Low Compression Engine

Hi.
So after wondering so long why my 550i with hp mods (Rpi exhaust + scoop) was appreciably slower than stock 550is I saw on youtube (Europe and America), I found out that my 550i has a Low Compression Engine (Code S858A Motor niederverdichtet).

My VIN number is CT32281, and I checked the VINs of some random 550is in America, and they did not have this code. I've heard this code is for countries with poor fuel quality to reduce engine knocking. So I am wondering is this a hardware change (different heads/pistons) or just a software tune that I can get rid of.
Thanks in advance.

i've read elsewhere that the pistons are different to allow a slightly lower compression ratio, to help prevent knocking, due to lower octane/quality fuels.

Drop an ESS TVS kit on it and be appreciably faster than other 550 owners?

Are lower compression versions better suited for superchargers?

Btw have you guys ever raced a 335i? I have a 335i at my university (Austin,TX) and it is faster than my 550i (in Pakistan) even when the JB4 tune is off.

Anyone can install that!

as for how quick your 550 is, I cannot say. I know mine is faster than a stock 535xi...

Anyone running one of these superchargers? If so does the boost increase with load like a turbo does or is it purely RPM based?

in effect, it's throttle position based. just like all other positive displacement blower systems.
