Hi, I have a 04 545i SMG with 140,000 miles on it. My transmission began to act funny about 2 weeks ago. Whenever I upshift, the transmission would slip (I think) for a brief second. I didn't pay much attention to it. Just yesterday when I was driving on the freeway, I noticed the transmission slipping on its own. I pulled over and eventually the transmission failed. It would be stuck on first gear and then jump to 2nd on its own while idling. The car was also very shaky especially when I tried to accelerate. The weird thing was no malfunction lights turned on at all. I pushed the car and parked it nearby. I started it up the next day, but every time I accelerate in slow gear, it is extremely shaky. Have anyone else experience anything like this? Hopefully it is just the clutch going out and not something more serious

 

It does sound serious I'm afraid. I think the hydraulic pump is failing
