Hi all, my E60 525i (2006) suddenly started to sputter while standing still with the engine on. The whole car shakes a bit, and once the engine even cut out. When im moving, the engine seems ok, although it doesnt quite 'feel right'. There seems to be some minor vibrations. It happened a few weeks ago, but the next day it was gone so I ignored it. Today it happened again so i figure i'd better bring it in for service. I'll have to wait a few days, so I thought Id ask here to see if anyone has an idea what this could be. The CEL comes on as well. I have no trouble starting it.

Regards,

Cor

How many miles are on your 525i?

Only about 28000 miles. It's a 02-2006. I dont drive it that much obviously Actually, between this morning and this evening (it's 7pm here) it disappeared again. I dont like these intermittent issues cause that might make it harder to find and fix. The CEL is still lit though.

My advice is to go to your local autozone/advance auto parts and have them hook up an OBD II scanner (they do it for free) to see what the problem is

i'd clean the MAF sensor and while you are at it look into changing your air filter
