Yes, i've seen this, but it is a supercharger, not a compressor and the gas consumption will go three times up.
Now i've always thought that supercharger and compressor and blower ....are sinonims that describe the same method of forced induction!

My Ride: E60 530d Sport - Carbon Black, Black Dakota Leather, Media Pack (satnav, bluetooth, CD changer), heated font seats, through load
Kompressor is German for Supercharger, AFAIK. ie NOT a turbo.
If you want more power, don't buy a 520i. Supercharging is not a cheap way to get more horsepower.

I always thought there were superchargers/compressors and turbochargers..
Besides, e.g. in Norway and Denmark, a compressor could be a nice way of avoiding the extreme car sales taxes.
