hi guys im new to this so if this topic has been answered before please can you refer me to the correct page.

i bought a 2005 525d msport the other day but the buttons on the steering wheel dont work. the car has be accident damaged and repaired, so may be this may have something to do with it as the air bags have been changed.

what do i need to get replaced in order to get the streeing controls to talk to the rest of the car.

also i have been told that until i dont get this replaced the guy in my local BMW specialist garage says he cant reset the airbag lights in the dash until i get this replaced, he tell me i need a slip ring or something like that. is this true?

also the car has bluetooth but i cant select this in the i drive option where you get the little check box ( you have to press the in so you can tick/check the box). the i drive system simply just doesnt let me select it. now the guy in the garage says that this is more than likely linked to the steering wheel controls and that until i dont get that part he cant do anything.

can any one help with this problem please

I reckon it might be worth taking to the BMW mechanic. Its a combination of having a faulty steering wheel with possibly an issue with the air bag. Its worth spending money fixing the steering wheel rather than spending it on a new set of teeth.

this is what i have told from an bmw specialist, but i'm little confused because everyone just keeps telling me different things on how to get this problem sorted.

the slip ring cost ?47.00 from bmw and they charge somethimng like ?105/hour for diagonist, but they would not even touch the car because its an accident repair .

the guy that repaired it says that he doesnt think i need a slip ring but the chap who is reseting the air bang light says i need it.

DONT NO WHAT TO DO
