Mine remembers the settings for about 10 mins after the car is shut off. If I turn the auto off and then later turn the car off to run into a store, it will still be off when I get back in the car. So it seems like the "sleep" idea is correct.

Anyone?
Anyone?
I'm not sure what CIP version I have right now, but I am pretty sure that whatever condition my climate control is set to when I turn the ignition off, is where it returns to when I get back in......

On thing to throw into the equation. Did the dealer load the WHOLE car with 16.2 or just certain components? I though someone mentioned before that they should load the WHOLE car for everything to function better with each other.

Could this "auto on start" thing be programmable by the dealer? I think I remember that was the case on my E46: the car was always turning aircon on at startup. I think it was because BMW engineers were worried of some condensation thing...
My E46 was a convertible, in which case it is even worse because there is no "top open" sensor so if the car's open when you start it, it immediately tries to cool down the planet (and fails )

Did you have to pay Herb Chambers to get 16.2 installed? It's my understanding that dealers 'arent supposed to' just update on customer request -- it either has to be related to a customer complaint about faulty vehicle operation, or for a fee.
What's a good complaint to use? I took delivery of my 545i earlier this week (from Wagner) and it doesnt do the perspective NAV view so it must not be 16.2
Hi Urbo73,
Which dealer in the Boston area has 16.2?
I just checked with mine (BMW Peabody) and they say that they are on 15.1.
Thanks in advance!
Herb Chambers BMW on Commonwealth Ave. They always get the latest first it seems and the mechanics know their stuff. Even on my invoice they print the E060-05-03-520 as the SW from CIP 16.2 - they know the deal.

And finally they fixed the bug where the radio on/off wasn't rememberd when starting the car as we all know. That was just a huge pet peeve of mine.
Anyway, one thing I've noticed is that now, if I have the climate control turned to OFF, when I re-start the car it's back on auto!? Is this a new bug? Or was it always this way and I just don't remember?
Now *I'm* confused. Rudy, your theory had to do with restarting it a couple of times after sleep mode to see if it decided that you really wanted the change to be permanent. So I was confused about your theory - it seems the opposite from this.
So it works like this:
Setting is kept in memory until car goes to sleep and after the car has gone to sleep it comes on in AUTO - regardless of what you had before. I guess it's a feature, but to me it's a bug in that if I want it OFF it should stay OFF.
