My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets. First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
Thumbs up

I got my new Dunlop Thumpflats yesterday (at about 8k miles), and had to pay $150 for an alignment (I asked if it was suggested and he said BMW required it). Frankly, I didn't mind as it's almost like an oil change in terms of cheap insurance.

Interestingly the RF tire that was growling so bad was still in; both lefts were toed-out a bit. So, that goes to show that alignment doesn't have much bearing on the Dunlops' wear.

They also finally diagnosed and replaced my iDrive screen as what was causing the random ding-dong alarms and icons light show, (aka Electronic Failure) that has been plaguing me since delivery.

They also cleared the recall on crankcase vent, and replaced the RR window motor and guides (anti-trapping).

I believe the total warranty claim he mentioned was $4400. With numbers like that for an afternoon's work, it makes the extended warranty a bargain.

Cheers,
Ray Hull

All right....new tires for another 8000 miles!!! Did they make you take the DunFlops? As you know, my DunFlats were replaced with Goodyear Eagle NCT 5's by the stealership. Anyway you look at it, you got a new set of tires for free.

I wonder how the different runflat tires compare. Mine are Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 18's and they seem fine so far (8,000km). I wonder how do they compare with the Dunlops and the Goodyear NCT 5's. Also I wonder whether I should get Dunlop M3 DSST 17's for this winter.
