Hi. There has been lots posted on this and some of the information is either confusing, inconsistent, or both. My build date was 4/21/04 and I've got Nav. Is a Sat radio retrofit possible now or is it clear yet whether it would be in the future, on my '04 car? I don't think I have anything like a sat pre-wire option but I don't even think that applies, given my build date. Confusion reigns and help would be appreciated. I don't suppose the price is known, and how much labor is involved? I'd really like the integrated one, i.e. not a third-party solution. Thanks much.

I spoke with BMW NA last night. I wrote them a letter last week asking to clarify the Bluetooth issue, the SAT Radio issue, the MP3 issue, and where I could get a coffee mug that didn't rattle in the cup holder.

Basically, the Bluetooth retrofit would be towards the end of the year. You can have Bluetooth now, but you must disable your BMW assist. Since Bluetooth wouldn't help me if my airbags deploy, I'll wait and see.

The SAT radio (for cars with Nav) would be towards the end of the year (software problems. Although, I did get an email indicating that I could order SAT radio parts. I'll go to my dealer and ask about that.

The Biggie::::::the manual was going to be corrected to show that we CAN't play MP3's (see Service Measure B65 214 014, M-ASK doesn't accept MP3 CD's. The
owner's manual will be corrected. Do not replace any parts.)

James

And BMW doesn't sell any coffee mugs that fit nicely into the E60. Anyone know of one at Starbucks or Caribou that I should buy?

And, I guess since the thread was about the SAT radio, you might want to know which parts to order. My car has SAT prep,

Sat: You can order from your dealer. Here are the part numbers.
Satellite Radio P/N: 65 12 6 941 706

Bracket P/N: 65 10 6 925 468

Hex Bolt P/N: 07 11 9 902 932(need 7 of these)

Body Nut P/N: 61 13 1 372 033(need 4 of these)

Again, I haven't gone to the dealer yet to clarify this. Maybe someone else on here has more info.

Sorry... I tried to search but didn't get anything - I've got a US Spec car with NAV (I assume that's NAV PRO) and I've been reading that it's now possible to get SAT if you disable BMW Assist... does anyone have the procedure or something I can point my dealer to? Both dealers I've tried tell me it's impossible...

Thanks
Nick

Thanks everyone for the info, especially those part numbers, but it doesn't sound like we're quite there yet. I'm pretty sure this answer will need to build-date dependent. Does anyone know if my BMW CCA parts discount applies to these parts, or is it just for Lifestyle products and such? Also, is it 10% or 20%, if it does apply?

Re: Starbucks mugs... Get a Grande mug that seals, not one that will leak. Then, use the rear seat cupholder for it. Haven't had a problem yet, but I have NOT tried to imbibe from it while on the road. It's only for home-to-work transport. The key is finding one that almost seals, so that if it's laid on its side, filled, it won't leak...much!

I think that the 'disable BMW assist' to get it working is for Bluetooth, and not the SAT radio.

I'm pretty sure it's just 'not there yet' for cars with the Navigation.

This applies to only US cars...

As of now you cannot have Sat radio with Nav. You can get the Sat prep with NAV now I have it with a May 28 04 build. Parts will be available around November time frame.

Haven't given up yet but it is not the priority just yet. Will try soon.
