I have an 05 545i sport. The DRL used the high beam halogens. I was wondering if there's a quick mod so I can use the angel eyes only just like the LCI cars' DRL.

Thanks

I don't think it can be done easily....probably with enough wiring etc though!

i know on e39 it was a quick visit to a shop with comptuer to get it done... i am not 100% how its done one e60 should be done with computer as well?

Basically you would disable the drl and then turn the lights on to the first notch to get ae on.

Had my car in for service 2 weeks ago and I noticed this weekend while stopped behind a really shiny car that the DRLs were not on. They were set in the auto position but the green light was not on as before. They do however, come on automatically when I enter a tunnel or garage or a rain storm that darkened the day to almost night time conditions. When they come on, the green indicator next to the switch lights up but is not on otherwise. Has this happened to anyone else? I am wondering if this is a new program to extend the service life of the bulbs?

Sounds like you've got DRL turned off in the iDrive menu. This could have got reset during your service.

With it turned off, the lights will only come on in poor light conditions, night time or tunnels when the dial is in the Auto position. Just turn your DRL's on in the iDrive menu to have them on all the time.

I asked my dealer to make the change on my car and they wouldn't. According to the dealer it might be done but they don't do this which is means it is not a software change, it's got to be a hard wire change.

Hi Marc, I can't find that option in the menu. I remember it being there but am unable to locate it now. Since the bluetooth upgrade was performed, I have noticed that the menu looks a little different. I am going to run through the PDF from the info page to see what is missing and then check with the dealer about activating those functions.

They wont do it because in Canada we have DRL Laws, against shutting them off.
In US Cars i believe they can turn them on and off in iDrive.

Only on the LCI's in the US can you shut the DTRL off with the Idrive, if it is a pre 08 it requires a trip to the Dealer and some $$$. I Canada it is required to have DTRL on at all times , so that might be the reason your dealer is reluctant to modify the settings...
