To day they had a meet about my car whith some BMW guru guy from Sweden. He will propobly look at my car when he have time
Sounds like it my be the ring and pinion gear, U joint or it could be a CV joint. Usually all of these will exhibit other systems during driving. I would lean more towards the pinion and carrier gear. Might have not gotten torqued right or proper clearance?

Since it has an independent rear suspension, I imagine they would replace the whole differential. I don't know if it is the problem. It is hard to diagnose without actually looking at the car. I have seen ring gears that have worn the side of the diff case down in other makes. If this is the case you get metal in the bearings and in the carrier. They have to replace the bearings, raceses, and ring / pinion gear. The case, carrier would need to be cleaned throughly and new seals, shims and raceses installed. Then you have to set the gears up and get the proper backlash. It can be time consuming. That is why installing a whole new diff would probably cost about the same.

Here is a update of the sad story. They changed the headlight due too mist and fixed my seat clunk the turning around right corners. They also changed a part on the AT and updated my car to CIP 24. Guess what, it is still the same problem. Then they asked Munchen about the problem they said there was 5-6 cars that had this problem.
Wowe-you have Transmission Slam. I had the exact same thing. Twice "some guy" from BMW with a laptop that had some "special software" came to my dealer and reprogrammed my car. It did NOTHING! A puma case was opened on my car and the result was that the dealer was told to replace my transmission. I now have a brand new "remanufactered" transmission and new software and a whole new list of problems. And I have version 23.1 installed. I have not had the transmission slam occur since. 1000+ miles on replacement tranny. Not yet......

Wowe, I was wondering if you ever solved your transmission problem, I sometimes have the same clunk when I shift from reverse ? to drive (D). It does not clunk all the time and does not seem to be very loud, but you can feel a clunk from time to time when shifting. My car is only about 10 months old with 5,000 miles. I have a 2007 530 with steptronic. Let me know if they found a solution for you. Thanks.
