I noticed the other week that my drive belt is not centred on one of the middle pulley's. I cannot explain exactly but it is the upper most middle pulley. It does not have any tracks or anythin to hold the belt on, and is a smooth pulley that the belt rides on. It stays in line by the ones underneath that keep it straight.

I noticed however instead of being square on the pulley, mine is about a quarter inch off the pulley. I brought this up to bmw service and they said it is within normal limits. He said there is no way for it to come off because what keeps it in line is the other pulleys beneath it.

My thought that if it is not square on the pulley, all the force is not bein applied as much as it could or not as evenly leading to uneven wear or loss of power. I asked them to replace the belt and look at the pulley anyway. Is there anyway a pulley could have gotten bent or something, has anyone else heard of htis problem
