I've done speedometer indicated 155mph in my 2002 540 Sport on the NJ Turnpike and the car was rock solid. It seems that RFTs make E60 more sensitive to road imperfections though. As to doubling the speed limit, it all depends on what the limit is; 70mph on a 35 mph 2-lane empty street at night is no big deal. 100 mph on a typical NYC highway like Belt or FDR? No problem. 140 mph on a 70mph I95 in Florida? I would think twice before doing it.
