...the button on the handle of the truck does the same thing... difference is:
If you have a button:
You press the button in the car and walk to the trunk and it's opened.
If you don't have a button:
You walk to the trunk first then press the handle to open it.

You can say things like you can use the button on your key fob if this happens but the trunk release button doesn't work if your key is in the ignition correct? Just my 2 cents.
Edit: just realize you said handle on the truck, are we talking about the same thing?

I would open the trunk with the switch from inside, and then go out, and helping with the luggage, so they don't scratch the car

I found the P/N for the switch. My dealer told me the price
61316921846.....interruptor desbloqueo portamaletas......15.29,-- -14% +IVA
Look at it here, it is number 7
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...=61&fg=35&hl=12
The problem is that the wiring harness is not sold as a retrofit part.
I ve been waiting for Hobi to give live signals (see post http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=15654), but no way. He said that the wiring harness is a short piece, easy to connect, so I guess it will be connected in a control unit close to the switch, or to the fuse box.
Question... Does anyone whose car include this switch be able to look how is it connected? Where the wiring harness goes to?
Regards from Madrid

My Ride: (E60) 535D M-Sport (DMS)
Mine is a Sept 2005 car (06MY) & i've no interior switch for the boot release, just the soft pad under the boot lid & the button on the key.
TBH i'd only ever use the buttin on the key anyway. Did notice that their does appear to be a kind of recess on the front edge of the drivers kick panel, where according to the manual the boot release button would be.

Whoops! You got me there on the typo!
Another solution is to carry the 2nd key and use it as the truck..whoops again...trunk opener. Believe it or not, your 2nd key buttons work while your first key is in the ignition... :'(

Imagine this, you are waiting in your car for your friend on a cold Canadian winter night. Your friend walks towards your car and want to put something in and he/she doesn't know how to open your trunk (which most people don't as they don't realize the piece of plastic above the plate conseal a switch that opens your trunk) Without the switch inside your car you need to step out and open it for them, if you have the switch inside your car than just press it and end of story.
