I know that you can change a setting in iDrive to have your doors lock automatically when you first start driving off. The question is can you have it set to unlock all doors when you stop the car and put it in park, or pull the key out of the ignition?

Not really. There is a button readily available to the driver and front seat passenger that will lock or unlock all doors with a simple press.

Really??
I am surprised.
My wife's Toyota can do that. I would've thought that BMW can somehow have that programmed at the dealership, too.

I could be wrong but I think auto unlock with engine off is programable at the dealer level...

Personally I like the doors to stay locked when I turn off the engine... I'm not always ready to get out of the car and I dont want the door unlocked... I prefer the double pull method.

Thats the only thing it can do. I hated it. it locks when you twist the ignition and unlocks when you twist off... ESPECIALLY when all the doors arnt closed yet it will lock and then auto unlock again... So I alaways end up waiting till the last person got in the car then closes the door THEN i can start the engine... on a Hot day that is ANNOYING!!!!!!!

Doors will unlock after ignition is turned off but its on my UK spec. car.
This question has been asked before on this forum. Guess its one of those features which US spec. cars can't have with the laws you have there.

It makes no sense to me to have them unlock automatically. Why even bother to set the autolock if you want them to do that? Are the bad guys only at stop lights where you live? I don't use the autolock but often lock the car manually. I don't think that pulling the handle twice is such a big deal.
