Hi Gang,
My 2006 525 is about 2 months on the road...just now started hearing a creaking regularly by my left ear. I have read references to the "door seals" creaking, but then if you release the pressure on the window by opening it a tiny amount, the creaking seems to stop....

Is the issue the rubber door gaskets or somthing related to the window? It started quickly...I wonder if it is related to the change in weather (mid-atlantic U.S.). Insights appreciated!

There are lots of threads on this topic, including a couple running right now. This is a well-known problem. BMW has issued a service bulletin to address the problem, which calls for new door seals at the top of the doors. The jury's still out, though, on whether this is a permanent fix or not.

a lot of people had that problem, myself included,i called my dealer and faxed him a service bulletin-he said to call back in a couple of weeks...i sprayed WD40 on the felt along rubber seals-ALL creaks have dissapeared-that was about 2 months ago,i never bothered to call my dealer back. Its been a quiet car ever since.

Had the car in yesterday for new seals.
I asked my dealer where the problem really is - you would think that by lowering the window an inch and the sound dissapear, that the problem would be in the seal between the window and the door, but actually what happens by lowering the window, is that it reduces the tension between the door frame and the body, which makes the sound stop.
In other words, it's the seal that sits on the outside of the door frame that makes the sound, not the seal between the window and the door, as you would think.

Or, so I was told anyway...
