After the software update I had all those settings still active, but they didn't worked correctly. I had to uncheck them in idrive and check them again, a re-initialization. Then everything worked perfect again.
So my guess is, it is a bug and you should re-initialize those settings.

Even if I re-initialize, I don't have enough trust in the software to leave that setting enabled. It only happened to me once but that was enough to lose faith that I can ever use that feature again. What if a small child was in the car, etc? It's simply not worth the risk...

Yeah no kidding - unacceptable. Sounds like a bug in the software related to the auto-re-lock feature. Shouldn't happen with the key in the ignition. I wonder if it has been resolved with new software.

Maybe you can go ahead and enable the feature and report back to us in six or eight months to let us know if they fixed the bug...

Sort of the beta-tester heh - No thanks, I think I'll pass. I have been looking at that option for a year and haven't come up with many situations where I would want the car to lock itself automatically (no kids) and lots of situations where I wouldn't.

I do NOW!

The only function that was enabled at the time was for the car to lock the doors when driving. Obviously, the car wasn't driving.

The option to lock if no door is open is/was NOT enabled.

Wow. That's much worse. I don't use it but my wife has the car lock automatically when driving for safety reasons. Maybe I will make her carry the plastic key as back-up. Although I guess if she were to leave the car running and get out for some reason, she might not take her purse with her.

Yeah... Don't tell US, tell it to your CAR.

Seriously... Maybe because it was not set and you got a software update the trouble was caused. Try to set it, and then deselect it again. It is pretty obvious that something was causing the trouble in the software, so I would just do all the settings again...

On my car it was set and didn't work after the upgrade, on yours it was not set and worked after the upgrade... For some reason those settings are causing trouble sometimes when the software gets updated...

For what it's worth, I always have mine set to lock doors on driveaway. The only time my car locked itself while parked was when the "relock if no door is opened" setting was enabled.

Ive tried to lock my keys in the car and couldn't. I wanted to leave it running in a parking lot to cool down. I had to use the small plastic key and lock the doors from the outside.
