I have a 06 530xi, when I lock my doors with the fob it doesnt flash a light or anything. I just realized there is a option in idrive to select it to flash or make a beep BUT I cant "check" any of the options...am I doing something wrong?

 

you LCM probably needs to be programmed, could have been replaced and not programmed correctly to your car's specs.

 

If the LCM wasn't programmed correctly wouldn't that effect more than just the lock/unlock flashes?

 

It could and it could not, programming is setting your module to fit the specs on your car, if your idrive has a place to select those to turn on then you LCM needs to be able to accept that command from the idrive. An unprogrammed idrive would be very apparent so we'll scratch that out. An unprogrammed LCM will work fine as all cars have headlights and taillights and so on, but certain annoyances like the one your having might happen.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but hoping someone can help.

I recently bought a 2005 E61, and I have the same issue as reported here - i can't select the Flash When Locking/Unlocking options on the iDrive. I also notice that the 'Home Lights' do not need to work, even though they are set to 25 seconds.
It looks like I may need to program the LCM, but I'm unsure how to - I have Toolset32 and INPA and the cable to connect. Would someone be able to point me in the right direction to program the LCM?
