The damn thing must have been deep, I didnt get to see it. I think I will call my lawyer tomorow. I heard you can sue and get money for this type of thing. NJDOT is responsible to keep highways clear of potholes. I will post outcome.

Sorry to here of your mishap. I got a flat in NYC 1 month ago and drove home to NJ without a problem, ride was smooth. The real bad part was having the car at the dealer for 3 full days just to locate and install 1 tire. The gave me a POS 2 door Ford Focus to drive around. Cost me $412.00. I have tire insurance but they still have not reimbursed me.

Just got back from the dealer, rim was also bent, it ended up costing me $800.00 total. The reason I didnt change the flat myself was because I wanted another opinion on wether to leave the run-flat on or change to the donut. My parts guy told me that the run-flats are more prone to blow-out with pot holes, because of there hard structure, they do not absorb any of the force. He told me as a friend, when the tires all need to be replaced in the future, he recomends a non run-flat. Run-flats are only good for small punctures like nails etc. I will definetly listen to him when its time.

Glad to hear that nothing else was damaged on your car.
Good Luck.

When I was finalizing my 2005 545 lease with the finance manager she offered me a wheel and tire insurance for $400. I turned it down. Now only 9 month in the lease and 27 more to go I've already spent $330 for the left front tire (got it from tirerack for $300, dealer installed for $30) and have a scratch on the left rear wheel. The latter is within lease wear and tear limits but is noticeable and would cost $150 to fix. Should've taken that insurance.

I thought about taking my spare tire out to save few lbs on the car. I changed my mind now.

Just a thought....would it be possible to use your car's Comprehensive insurance coverage to pay for the new tire and wheel? Even if your deductible is $500, it's still cheaper than paying $800.
The thought just came to me and I'm probably whacked but how about it?

I'm sure premiums will go up. I'm just wondering about the possibilities. So it's probably not Comprehensive as that covers such things as stereo theft or stolen vehicles but what about Collision? If you had a fender bender with a tree, Collision coverage would pay right? I would assume the same goes for a pot hole?
Sorry for going off on a tangent...
