I sold my Mercedes W211 E320 several weeks ago. I'm now driving one of our spare cars, a 1997 SAAB 95SE. Every morning I get into the SAAB and it still smells new even after 9 years and 60,000kms. I turn the engine on and it sounds like a truck. The leather seats are comfortable, the electronics are a bit busted but the a/c works just fine. Then I drive out of the garage. The car begins to rattle as I turn the steering wheel. I drive off and the ride is still as smooth as it was 9 years ago, but there just no guts in it. Overall, I'm happy, I'm contented.

Then yesterday, I jumped into my friends 530i........I felt depressed. The thought of having to drive the SAAB for another 4 weeks was just too painful. The power, responsiveness and comfort of the 530i was just awesome.

I don't think I will have a problem appreciating my 540i when it comes in 4 weeks. This must be the longest 4 weeks of my life!! ARRRRGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I wonder why they don't have the small V8 in the states. As far as I know the 540i is available in Europe as well.

About 3 weeks ago I was in one of those moods where I just wanted the new car NOW! I called up my dealer and told him that if he had a 550i with close to my specs I would take it immediately. He found one but without the Pro Logic, 19" wheels and Blinds...I was so tempted...funny thing was, he actually talked me out of it. Weird...

Unsafe/Illegal
The key word there is "sit" not "drive", so it's totally legal to sit in E60 and enjoy L7, but it'd be illegal to drive in E60 and enjoy L7.

Is the engine running? is the key turned to ACC, position 2? Is the key in the ignition? Are you sitting in the drivers seat?

Okay, the theme of this post was hijacked.

As far as the legal and illegal stuff, here is my take.

1) Without the keyfob in the ignition, its legal to sit in the E60 drivers seat and listen to L7 while drunk, buzzed, happy, angry, retarded, and etal.

2) The above would not always be true if one had the comfort access keyfob.

3) Further, the above would not always be true if the E60 was not your car.

4) The use of L7 in all the above circumstances is not illegal.

5) If windows are down and L7 is operating at high levels, one might be in violation of local noise ordinances.

6) Again, under certain circumstance already listed above, you can be drunk, buzzed, happy, angry or retarded while operating L7 with the windows down.

7) Loud singing and L7 use are sujbect to local noise ordinances if car windows are down.

8) A lousy and drunk singer in an E60 driver seat with the keyfob in the ignition and windows down might be asking for trouble.

Kia van built quality is very cheap. My bro-in-law rent a brand new Kia van drving down SoCal and he said it's not very safe to drive. Brake is no as good as his Xterra. I'm sure Kia van and E60 are hell and heaven, respectively.

Of course, and the e60 is much much more expensive.
Comparing a e60 to a kia van is retarded.
However Kia is a good car for its class and its purpose.
