Sounds like our cars were built with Carmen Miranda in mind.
If you know who she was, you are really getting up there!
By the way, my 545 was built in July, 2005, so there is no trend.
It just depends which group put yours together:
The A team or the dreaded B team!

Little rattles but they do increase when weather is cooler.
By summer time almost no rattles.

Mine is an E61 Touring. The sunroof rattles like mad and not yet been able to be fixed by dealer. Door seals were also noisy but so far Ok since replaced
Generally much more rattles than previous VW Passat at 5yrs old - but no worse than Merc E-Clas demonstrator I tried!
