Does my microfilter need changing (Pics inside!)

My Ride: 2005 BMW 525D M-SPORT // Grey // SB attached
So thanks to some members on the site, I took the microfilter off to see if it needs changing. Here are the pics
I can hoover it a bit to clean out the parts between the filter but with the gunk underneath it, it seems the filters were not changed too recently! But your opinions count.

i know they are cheap but if it wasnt necessary to change, why throw money down the drain.
I have not changed them since I have owned the car. It looks like they have never been changed since new.
Will go ahead and change them.
Oh, and just wondering, does anyone have pictures of a new microfilter so I can see the damage too.

How many miles do you have on the car? For the Service at 30k, the dealer (assuming you went with them) should have changed the filters as part of the Service...
But definitely change them in any event. I too saw leaves in there--how the fark does that happen I wonder??

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
The LCI models the mircofilters are do to change at every service.
On my old pre-LCI's they where mentioned in the iDrive, but not
in the LCI's anymore.
