i tell ya, if i decide to let my e60 sit for 5 days or so (while i drive my other car), it will barely start if not at all sometimes. and i have a new 990CCA battery installed. is this normal for everyone else here? i have heard of people using trickle chargers and what not on their e60's. wtf? thanks.

I have never had a problem with my original 2004 battery (yes, still on original), and I leave my car sitting for 2-3 weeks at a time in the garage. U must have some sort of drain, i.e., car is not shutting down entirely. Maybe you have aftermarket electronics installed? Oh, I never leave CD in the changers (I have the single in dash + 6-disk in glove box). I have the 6-disk cartridge entirely removed, actually. For me, the BMW is for driving, not listening, eating or drinking.

actually i have noticed that if i am sitting in the car with it off for awhile (and the key removed), i can hear it doing all sorts of activities. and at times the start button would illuminate for like half a second. then off and on i can hear it accessing the navigation dvd (whirling and seeking). i hear the nav dvd accessing the most.

Sanjsanj's toptip: If like me you barely use sat-nav, eject the dvd and reinsert it upside down. Even I've noticed it spins up waaaaaay too many times for its own good. Unnecessary spinning up solved.

I have 2007 (begin service 2006) , I leave the Nav DVD and CD in the drive all the time. I had never driven the car during week days. I some times leave the car mutliple weeks without starting. I don't have any sort of battery problem (touch wood). I also agree with "silbergrauE60' you must have some kind of drain..mostly due to car not getting into sleep mode.
