I think you'll also find that cars that come with runflats don't always come with a spare tire. I think the US market gets a spare included but it may be optional in other countries...

And naturally the OP does not list location (although he did join almost a year ago, despite the 1 post).

...low profile tires don't make sense with awd
They do if you lower the xi and drive on 19's or 20's during the Summer only!

Yeah, and then only if you don't use the dealer you used to do the mounting and balancing!

They didn't mount, luckily...just balanced, balanced, balanced, balanced, balanced, oh...and then rebalanced!

Where can I check this? I have an 08 535xi and it doesn't say anywhere (on the tire itself, owners manuals, web site) that the tires are run flats. I'm kinda new to this but shouldn't it say "Eagle RS-A EMT" or "run flat" somewhere?

I checked on my tires also, and I didn't see where it said either way. But in my case, I specifically asked my CA if my RS-A's were RFT's and he said they definitely were NOT. I also found this page on the BMW website stating "* Cars with run-flat tires do not come equipped with a spare tire.". (My car has a spare tire.)
http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/Uni...RrrIyBVRF+4og==

My car came standard with non-RFT's even with the xi Sport Pkg(17" wheels).

Hope this helps.
