My hunch is that item #12 needs to be replaced, unless of course, item #15 is compromised,
which may lead to replacing item #11 as well.

Thanks. Have a question: of the above items, which is the control arm, the control arm bushing, and the front thrust arm bushings? Also, are the tie rods, strut bars and strut mounts pictured?

I wonder how on earth a brand new 535 could have a problem like this? What a pain! My next visit to the dealer will be number three with this same complaint.

For what it's worth, I work with someone who has an MB C230 and he was experiencing the same symptoms. I brought my '04 545i in to the dealer 2 days before he was about to bring his car to the MB dealership.
I advised my co-worker of what was found on my car so that he can ask his MB SA to see if the root-cause is the same - sure enough, his control arms needed to be tightened as well. I believe it cost him $218 to fix. He hasn't had the problem since. So, I'm not sure it's necessarily exclusive to BMW (make/model)...

Of course, your car's problem could be totally different (but hopefully not expensive) and if nothing else, you can begin to rule-out some things.

I have what I think is the same problem. Slowing down to a stop i get a clunk type sound (kind of like the calipers shifting), but I believe it's intermittent. I also have an 08 535i with 4000 miles on it. I'll probably take it into the dealer next week to have it looked at (in the event someone doesn't find the answer ahead of time (like BMW saying it's supposed to do that).
