Yes. And?
...that influences how widely puchased it is.

Isn't this what the thread is about?

I suspect there is another source of bias, in as much as people posting on car forums are generally more likely to be driving enthusiasts than the average guy in the street. So manuals and SMGs are probably over-represented here anyway.

I would be intrigued to know how prevalent SMG is in Europe...

SMG, SMG, SMG -- (can I vote three times?)

For those that are interested, here is two other similar transmission polls:

Thank you Rudy!

So that pretty much answers the question of the current topic and other similar questions. And yes AlexFW! It's that simple!!!

This is an woldwide forum and we can assume there are different markets and different options, but those 2 links clearly show exactly the result for the current topic and even more the 2nd one shows that the GAS engines+steptronic are the most wide spread. I assume the majority here is formed out of americans. Not that it matters or anything.

I don't get it why some people like to twist and change the meaning of smth just to prove their off points!?!

You are a genius, dear smoke man : Steptronic won easily because only 530i and 545i have the SMG option .
And because SMG isn't suitable to little engines .
I just couldn't resist to ask just like dlevi67 did: AAAND?

How do you relate what you've just said to the question of the topic?! Read again the topic title pls and then what you've just wrote.
And btw i might be mistaken but doesn't the 540i and 550i benefit from the SMG option?!

PS: What smoke?
